Hesitation Whilst Driving

Recommended Posts

cheesegrater

Hi all, finally got my GTI on the road and it's very hesitant particularly in 3rd and 4th low down in the revs as in put your foot on the acceleration and you just get farting and popping. The rev counter works occasionally too is this pointing to a knackered ignition amp or something else? I had to swap and change the inlet manifold when I put the engine in so ultimately moving the ign amp.

Cheers.

Tom.

Is the ignition timing set up correctly, dizzy cap & rotor arm, HT leads all in good condition & correct order?

The ignition amp isn't on the inlet, thats the coil.

Fresh fuel or has it been stood in the tank while the cars been off the road? It can go off.

Graham.

My dizzy cap clips on at the end is there any adjustment I can't see. It's got fresh fuel in it, I might change the filter though as I'm not sure when it was last changed. So does the tacho get its feed from the coil?

There isnt any adjustment, its electronically controlled.

Save your money for now and check the items pugtorque mentioned, it sounds like dizzy cap and arm.

If none of these work, it's worth checking to see if the inlet manifold gasket is obstructing the flow from the injectors. Did you put a new gasket on when you changed the manifold? It seems some don't line up properly. Easy to check, just pop the injector rail out and have a look down the holes.
