Rev Counter Not Working

i was coming home tonight and all of a sudden my rev counter dropped to nothing, but car was still running. its a 1.6 gti. does anyone know where it gets its signal and if theres any known fault maybe??? cheers

Have any other of your guages stopped working? If they have then it sounds like you've blown fuse #1 which covers the rev counter & various dash guages / warning lights.

 

If not the rev counter gets it signal from the coil (pin2 on the coil plug with an inlet mounted coil) but it also has a 12v feed & earth to the back to make it work.
