Grumpy Starting

my 1.9 8v has a bit of a grump every time its started - the revs dip down then up then down then up, then settles dead on 1k after a few times(approx 20 secs) and its fine after that, i can run it up to temp and turn it off and on again and it will do the same thing only for a few seconds though

 

ive played with the AFM mixture screw and idle speed and after a few dips it then idles perfectly with no movement

 

ive relaced the SAD for another one, but if it was this i would have thought if this was dodgy it would just struggle until it was warm not go up and down? and would start again fine once warmed up?

 

any other ideas i can play with please?

its most likely to be the AFM causing it, I was having similar issues until I fitted a remanufactured AFM, then did away with it completely for MP3.1

 

have you had the CO levels checked and adjusted as necessary?

damn - ive got 3 1.6 AFMs but no more 1.9 ones lol
