Injectors Not Delivering Fuel

Recommended Posts

Hi,apologies if this has been covered before, but i've spent ages searching old posts and can't find the answer,so here goes! i have a ph1 1.6 gti that was running before being stripped to refurb the cylinder head. Now it wont start, fuel is getting to the rail and i have a spark, but nothing comes out of the injectors. An auto electrician said it was the fuel relay and got me an aftermarket one, that made no difference. There is another relay in the box next to it,does anyone know what this one is please?

What age 205 GTi is this? With the exception of Phase 1's, the fuel pump relay is the black relay that sits under the dashboard next to the steering column, by the ECU.

Easy enough to check if the relay is working though - check to see if the fuel pump runs when cranking (ie 12v across the terminals and pumping fuel) and see whether you have 12v on one of the two injector pins (multimeter between the battery negative and the injector pin). If you have both of those, the fuel pump relay is likely working fine.

How much of the engine bay did you take apart when removing the cylinder head? Just literally removing the head, or did you disconnect the entire wiring loom etc?

It's a 1986 ph1,the pumps working fine, you can hear it when cranking and the pressure is there at the rail.As for the wiring,i just disconnected enough to remove the head, however i didn't get round to putting it back together for about six months,so i did wonder whether i missed anything :) Ihave checked several times for loose wires but everything seems fine :)

send them to mad professor, he does cleaning and testing, you'll find details in the group buy's section IIRC.

I'm sure there are plenty available on here, have a look through the for sale section.
