Engine Out Without Hoist Possible?

Recommended Posts

IOWGENTRY

Hi everyone

I wish to get the engine out of a 205 track car I brought to rebuild it, Is it possible to renove engine without the aid of a hoist?

Thanks Phill

if you have a decent trolley jack and a helper then yes, though I would try and borrow/hire a crane.

yes. Get the gearbox off, all ancillaries and inlet manifold and drop it out the bottom.

I have just taken out and put in a new engine for my 205 this way using a stack of wood underneath to gradually lower the engine down, and then out from under the valence.

i did mine this way with the help of a ramp but you have to get the car quite high in the firstplace to give you enough room to get it out the bottom

I agree with Welshpug, Got to be easier just to hire a crane.

Its not going to be that much and it'll save you a load of agro.

Or loosen all the mounts then find a sturdy tree/beam and a piece of rope - Home made hoist

I've seen it work on grasstrack minis :-)
