Standard Rear Hatch Spoiler

Guys,

Been wondering how to remove the standard black rubberlike rear hatch spoiler off a phase 1 GTi.

 

I've been looking and it looks like its attached via the rear screen rubber? If so do i have to pop the rear screen out to remove?

No, it is just five screws fixing it to the rear hatch.

Nice and easy to remove.

Possibly, sorry, I was thinking of phase 1.5/2 cars.

Yeah they are stuck on and can take quite a tug to get off. Sliding a bit of wire under it may be the easiest way to get it off (similar to taking out a bonded windscreen)

I'll try the BFI approach.

No screws holding it on, guess that's the price of buying a phase 1 car!
