If the car in question is something like a 5dr bog standard 1.6 auto, would the 1.9 suspension fit on at all ?

 

Keeping all the standard auto parts (hubs/brakes etc) and just changing the complete strut assembly ?

Yes you can change the struts and front subfame for GTI parts and keep the hub, brake setup. You will have to move the brake hose bracket on the inner wing as it will catch the drop link bracket on the strut. Rear beams are interchangable between all 205 models.

So if you wanted to change just the struts to GTI spec then that is fine and do-able ?

Yes you can change just the strut to a GTI spec one. You can then cut off the drop link bracket off the strut so you wont have to move the brake bracket. 1.6 autos dont have drop links.
