Which Year Vts?

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember someone saying the VTS went to Canbus wiring (or similar) towards the end of it's production, which year was that? obviously I want a combination of low miles and age but I don't want a wiring nightmare!

Cheers,

Adam.

Adam i made the mistake of getting a late VTS engine with multiplex ecu ect. The engine was cheap £320 inc gearbox ect. I just brought a gti6 ecu and loom of here.

The exhaust manifold is differant were it connects to the front pipe but I have just made an adaptor pipe the join them together using the vts down pipe cut and welded.

I can be done.

Cheers for the reply neil but I'm planning on buying and breaking a whole car so having all the right bits first time would be a bonus! What year was your car?

As far as I know, the changeover happened in early 2001 I believe, when the cars went from Phase 1 to Phase 2 (facelift front end etc)

Certainly all the earlier Phase 1 VTS's that I've seen/broken have been what you need for a 205 conversion, and have the thicker torsion bars, quicker steering racks etc

Also, the map and knock sensors need changing along with the top mount bracket. I have a few spare phase 1 / 1.5 looms and infact a complete running engine if required.

As for the beams, the later ones i have seen have had a 21-23mm setup.
