Coolant Sensor Wiring Diagrams

Recommended Posts

powermandan

The coolant temperature gauge on my car doesnt work, so far ive:

-Changed the sensor for a known good one.

-Cut out the the brown multiplug and soldered the connections.

- Changed the Dash

The wiring diagram in my haynes manual is appalling...

Could anyone tell me how it is wired? or give me a link to a better wiring diagram?

thanks

Dan

Its not unusual for the wires for the coolant gauge and the coolant warning light to get swapped over accidentally on the sensors, that might be whats happened to yours?

To identify the wires you can unplug the sensor and ground the wire to the block, the needle should go to full deflection or if you have the wire for the warning light it will come on when you ground the wire. If neither the gauge or the light respond when you ground the wire and you've checked/changed the clocks and the under bonnet brown multiplug my next check would be the brown multiplugs under the dash, by the drivers left knee.

Probably just a bit of corrosion on the connectors.
