Anyone Fancy A Bit Of Welding?

Recommended Posts

wildejon

Is there anyone here who would be able to fill in/weld (and paint maybe?) some old fixing holes I no longer need in an upper strut brace? Had to drill some additional holes recently and would like to keep it tidy!

Thanks

i assume that the brace is still strong with the holes there, in whice case filler may be a better option? depends how big the holes are i suppose, as welding will ba a fair bit of work, you're going to have to cut a bit of metle to fit the hole, (unless its tiny) and then when you are welding the paint around the weld will overheat and bubble, and then you'll have to run a flap sik over a few times to flatten it out. filler = easier

A good welder will be able to mig the holes up without putting metal pieces in,then a tiny bit of filler for when you have ground the weld down and prime and paint.

Don't just use filler on its own, it will only crack after a while an drop out! :)

Maybe I should have just used some sort of resin, painted over it and forgotten all about it :)

Yeah, I'd say its plenty strong enough as is, I would just like it looking nice and tidy.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go next time I'm at Phil's place (pip470).
