Missing Bolt From Coil Mounts

Recommended Posts

Obey_R

Sorry I'm not totaly sure what they're called but one of the 3 bolts on the suspension struts in the engine bay is missing. Is this is a major problem, can I just I go without... what are my options?

Thanks

picture would be good but do you mean the nut? and i'd def get it sorted as can take a fair bit of strain under cornering

It's fairly common for one of the studs to break - running with just 2 doesn't seem to cause any immediate issues, but personally, I'd replace it with another regardless.

stick an 8mm drill bit through the hole, to clean it up, then you should just about be able to get a bolt in there with a nut on top, I think there is just about enough room to do that, one of the nuts on my 205 is fitted like that.

I couldn't reach it from underneath, is it just tricky or wheel off jobbie?

Yes it would be much easier with the wheel off Ross B)

I've had this on my car and you can just about get your hands up underneath to hold a bolt there (with a washer) then tighten it up from the top (again with a washer) and so far its been fine. You may be lucky with the steering on full lock though but its a squeeze.
