Fitting A Rev Meter

Recommended Posts

sceptre

Hi guys

I'm really not great on the technical side of this so please be gentle! :)

I have a lovely little pug but it has no rev meter!

It's a 1.4 sceptre, and behind the glass it literally has a speedometer, a fuel gauage and a space.

It also doesnt have a trip meter but I figure that would just weigh the car down! :)

I'd love to take it all apart and stick a different display from another 205 in it with a rev meter but how do I do the technical side of this, would it be really tricky???

Thanks!!!

You can fit the gti or xs dials however you would need to change the loom for the dials, its not too hard but takes awhile and you would need to take alot of the dash apart!

These dials are from a late spec 309 they are like the gti ones but without the oil pressure gauges and are back lit, also if you did fit these sort of clocks im not sure on how you would get the rev counter to work due to the 1.4 injection system but im sure someone will know one here :)

A quick look on autodata for the 1.4i Sceptre the signal for the rev counter comes from the coil just like other 205's.

It appears to come from pin2 on the coil plug but you'd still have to find the positive feed & earths from the fusebox.

Graham.

Ah thats good then, as my old 1.1 had a coil pack so the rev counter wouldnt work.
