406 20l 16v Diff Has Exploded

A friends diff has exploded on a 1996 406 2l 16v petrol.

 

Can anyone confirm that the 205 gti gearbox will fit straight on to it?

 

Im sure it will fit on any xu block but would like it confirmed.

Yeh it will fit on but the clutch setups different I think.

Sort of, Clutch arm is different along with the bell housing and mounting stud, Diff is different too as they run the later one
