Coolant Sensor? Where?

Recommended Posts

cheesegrater

Hi all, I've got my engine running now, I've put 7litres of water/coolant in there and bled it through so there should be plenty of coolant. However I do not seem to have a level come up on the dash nor a temperature when it gets warm. Coincidently I do not have an oil temperature either. Is it likely to be a case of a dodgey sensor, if so where is it? I have the red light that comes up at the bottom of the coolant dial also. So I'm guessing theres something a miss there too.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom.

Coolant temp sensor I believe is on your thermostat housing.

Oil pressure located on front of block same place (kind of) as here: p1010023euc.th.jpg

It's the beige looking thing

Oil temperature is on bottom of sump, blue plug.

I think you have your coolant level sensor confused with one of the oil guages

If I got some time over weekend I could come over and have a gander if you want

Nice one mate, yeah that would be cool. It's started to look more like a car now! I've got oil pressure, seems to go up with throttle etc. Oil temp is the one bolted into the sump (in the middle on the rear).

Could someone please confirm to me which wire is supposed to go where on the two sensors at the back of the engine near the SAD and below the distributor? I have a beige and red wire.

Thanks.

That sounds good with the oil pressure, does go up through the revs normally.

And correct with the oil temp :)

Unsure with the others mate, post some pics?

Haven't got 8v to check against anymore, but the one sensor is for the coolant guage, the other brings on the STOP light when the coolant reaches 105 or 110deg depending which sensor you have.

So If your water guage isn't Reading try swapping these 2 over.
