Fitting Gti6 Manifolds

Recommended Posts

Hello,

how well do GTI-6 manifolds (in + exhaust) fit in a 205 engine bay?

what shall i mod? is the exhaust-angle correct?

Inlet is fine, exhaust manifold has to be cut and reangled to clear the bulkhead.

where does it contact the bulkhead?

my plan was to modify the bulkhead while the engine is outside.

i saw some pictures here several days ago where someone modded the lower point where the exhaust pipes go trough (between front axle and bulkhead)

All 205's seem to have slight different tolerances, so for instance one shell will have the cam cover hitting the master cylinder and some fit perfectly with no mods. The same applies with the bulkhead.

The manifold usually hits the arch part of it where the floor panel meets the bulkhead panel.

me personally am going to modify the exhaust to fit the car not the car to fit the exhaust. but can be done eaither way.

Miles does modified manifolds, they are very good!

master cylinder is not an issue, its an european car. ;-)

i dont want to modify the manifold, but maybe i'll do that.

anyway, the space is very small in the 205 shell, even stock exhaust can be a bit tricky to adjust when you have welded and modded a bit.

so i think its probably not a bad idea to get a bit more space when the engine is out.

i exteneded the lower engine mount fork bracket by about half an inch or so and havent had any problems.

i dont like this idea, it will cause the oil pump to have an other angle and also the inlet manifold comes up some centimetres.

Its probably not good for the driveshafts but the oil pump will be fine, its just like driving up a very slight incline.
