Best Paint For Centre Caps?

Recommended Posts

A2TheA

Hi all, what is the best paint to do the centre caps?

As I said In the title mine just flakes off. I have even keyed the face to try and get a good bond for the paint.

Just wondered what paint you used or are you like me and keep having to repaint them every month or so?

Thanks

Aaron

Have you looked at buying some new ones? I think there only about £20 from the stealers.

I'll put some more on. See if it helps.

They are in good condition it's the paint colour/customisation that's bot working. The new ones are silver to match the silver original coloured wheels. Mines are White, and silver caps just won't match.

Cheers for replys

When I sprayed mine, I took more time to carefully sand the raised peugeot lion so that all the old paint was removed. Then I used a couple of coats of Upol primer, followed by silver, then laquer on the face.

Will purchase some etching primer and have a go with that.

Seems a few people have slightly different approaches with good results so I'll have a go with one and try the others if it fails

Many thanks guys.

well i find that using a scouring pad (even the ones used in the kitchen for be cheapo) to scratch them slightly when wet, then followed by sandpaper to do the bit you can get to and then plastic primer then primer then colour, if the paint is knacerd on them already prob best to nitromore them to remove the paint first!

yeah defo use plastic primer, make sure you get loads a laquer on the edges of the caps so when you put them back in the wheels they don't flake off.
