Radiator Repairs?

Recommended Posts

JackTar

Aaaaarrrghhhhh! I feel marginally better now. After trying to remove an almost pristine radiator from a 1.9, the connection leading from the expansion tank to the left hand top of the radiator (as you look into the engine bay) has snapped off.

Can someone please tell me that this may be repaired? Why did Peugeot use those hose clips that clearly leave you with no method of undoing them?

You can get this epoxy based putty which i would imagine would solve your problem, milliput springs to mind.

i once used it to repair a sump with a hole in it in an emergency

Epoxy resin such as Araldite is perfect for repairing the take off you're talking about, as well as any other radiator damage. I've used it myself successfully on a 406 V6 with that takeoff snapped as the rads for them are very expensive.

i had the same problem about a month ago, i used araldite to repair it, it worked fine. i put a long bolt through the hold when i glued it all together to stop glue blocking the water way entirely and then just pulled the bolt out once the glue was basicaly dry. worked a treat

Try and find a small piece of pipe to fit inside to act as a strengthener, then as above glue/bond it back together for a permanent fix.
