What Could Be The Worse Wrong With It?

Recommended Posts

Wrighty_1988

Hey, there is an MI16 engine on ebay that im interested in.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5#ht_674wt_1166

According to the add im thinking that maybe with the engine stood could have caused the condensation etc, or if at the worst the headgasket has gone. Id be changing that anyway along with the belts, He has offered me it for a very good price. Whats the worst that could be wrong with it?

could have worn out liner bores and worn out crank bearings, apart from that not a great deal more can go wrong if it was running not so long ago, depends what the cause of the headgasket failure was.

that's if there is a failure lol. Is it not possible for there to be condensation inside or maybe water has got in when he has had the cam cover off for a long time?. But it's the only one I know of for sale and it seems a steal for the price he is wanting.

Think I will go have a look at it and probably part with money and take it on as a project engine.

oz.

Could be an over reaction. If it did lots of short journeys on old oil then mayo is gonna happen

Could have a cracked head for all you know! Even worse, could be worth f**k all because of a cracked block. You must think of these things when buying engines. At the end of the day its all about how much money you have to spare because 50quid is 50quid.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow, illcheck all around the head and block and check for any damage, if I'm unsatisfied I'll leave it. Am thinking it could be an over reaction though but I'll let everyone know , thanks

'i do not no the history of the engine but was told i came from a 205 gti and was running 100%' in other words it's had it

The main area's for these now is corrission, Heads corrode badly as do the blocks so unless it's stripped most of it could be scrap I'm afraid, but if it does turn out good then you will be lucky.

I'd pay nomore than £75.00 for it as it is, As you could spend a good £1000.00 on parts

It could contain a black hole that engulfs the whole universe when you remove the head leaving you stranded in limbo with soiled undies, but this is of course the worst case scenario.
