Xsara Brakes Still Binding When Hot

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

i have been having trouble with my brakes on my xsara for sometime, when the engine gets hot the brakes stick on.

i have greased the sliders with some lithium grease, my next port of call would be a full fluid change.

any thoughts?

is it just when the engine is hot? or after heavy brake use?

have you tried starting the car, letting it warm up but not using the brakes and then seeing if they are binding?

Could be knackered brake flexi hoses, they can break down internally and act like one way valves so after you apply the brakes the pressure is held on.

If pedal goes hard its servo fault IIRC

Master cylinder > rod clearance adjusted properly?

Could well be that ;)

Had the same with my 309 when I spaced the servo too far doing my 16v conversion  the brakes would bind after 10 mins driving down the road :)
