hi there finally bolted everything up to do with my conversion today, went to fire it up and there is no spark. at the igniton coil i have i have a brown multipin plug with about 6 wires inside it and 1 of the wires has a 12v feed with ignition light's on but not cranking. the king lead end has 10v when ignition light's are on but not cranking when i do crank it it goes down to 7v. i put a plug in the king lead and there is no spark coming from that checked all my wiring, just not sure what to check now wny help would be much appreciated.....

p.s it's a 1.9 mi16 with the 8v ignition system and everything worked when i took it off the 8v..

if you are using the dizzy adapter, i would look to go for the 16v wiring conversion. but to help you out along your way - check dizzy cap and rotor arm, ignition amp, earths to the gearbox etc, check the alarm if fitted, shouldnt have alot to do with your multiplug, afaik, people only get issues with that as regards to startermotor issues.

hi there i will go for the 16v loom eventualy just wanted to get things up and running for the moment. checked g-box earths there all fine, you say the ignition amp is that the thing tucked up by the brake servo with BOSH written on it whaqt should i be checking for on there also i'm just gunna nip outside and check the cam sensor thing or will that not be affected yet as there is no spark getting to the dizzy. dizzy cap, rotar look fairly new.

hi guy's going to have another bash at tonight to see if i can sort it, been out and and had a look still no spark took the injectors out when i crank it over nothing sprays out of them till i turn it off then a little mist spray's out from a couple of them.

Also took these readings from the coil pack

ignition on/ cranking over

No 4 on the 4 pin connector 12.3v/ 10.0v

No 3 on the 4 pin connector 0v/ 00.4v

coil plug ht lead connector 10.5v/ 9v

No 1/2 on the 4 pin connector are earths looking at the signs on there was wondering if No 3 was the switch for the coil to send the spark to the dizzy, as it has so little voltage coming out would that point to ignition amp if so how do i test this, or could it be cam sensor not telling it to spark. Also as i'm running the 8v ignition sytem does there have to be a certain flywheel on there as ive been looking at some old posts and i'm sure the bloke i got the engine from said it came from a 405 4x4. Any help would be much appreciated as i'm dying to drive it now cheers.....

I wouldn't want to put my meter on the King lead while its cranking... Can you borrow a small oscilloscope from someone (Maplins sell them for £80ish) I got one for a similar problem and it was really helpful to be able to see the switching pulses from the ignition module to the coil. Speaking of the coil, have you measured its resistance?

Yep

There's a Hall effect sensor in the distributor that feeds back a signal (like a crank sensor), which controls fuel & spark timing. If this isn't working, there'll be neither.

Here's the lead:

and this is worth a look:
