Decking A Block....

When decking a block after cutting new liner seats, do you just sit the liners in and deck them to the same height?

No. Liners need to protrude to make a good seal.

Protude by 0.03mm to 0.10mm between liner and block, and shouldn't vary by 0.02mm across the four liners.

Yes.

3 thou (0.003") protrusion required to get a good bite into the head gasket.

The tricky thing (as explained by PeterT), is the correct mounting of the liner in the machine to shorten it such that their new top edge is square with the deck of the block.

This will now mean each liner must have its own distinct placement in the block.

I hope that makes sense.
