I'm pretty sure the gti6 injectors are a higher cc than 1.9's.

Could be wrong

*******Quick search using link in my sig gives this site.

Thing is you have to take into consideration what the engine can handle/use with existing management...

What is the engine spec?, The std one's can handle 200bhp

in short, without mappable engine management it's not possible, also a tad pointless without any engine modifications.

you need to get more air in there before you throw more fuel at it, as in uprated camshafts, higher flowing exhausts, raised compression ratios, ITB's.

IIRC the injectors are capable of up to about 160-170 odd as standard, Mi16 are very close in size as well, so not much of an upgrade

edit, underestimated their capability as shown by Miles :P

1.9L Mi16 and 1.9L 8V injectors are identical, theoretically capable of 180-185hp at 85% duty cycle & 3 Bar.

So the answer is simply 'no' I'm afraid. You cannot just fit 'higher flowing' injectors into an otherwise unmodified engine and expect or actually get any gain whatsoever.

Imagine me giving you a pen, which can theoretically flow 50% more ink than the normal one you use. In practice it won't make any difference, because YOU can only write so fast. It's pointless. Your brain, arm and muscles can only work at a certain rate, unless you do something serious to improve them.

And just to prove this - and going back to 1.9GTI / Mi16 Bosch yellow injectors and PeterT's comment - my tandem engine build project (in my signature) is 16valve engines, using new management, an aftermarket cam, aftermarket exhaust, higher compression ratio and new (GTI6) inlet, and may only just be getting close to being enough to push these yellow injectors to their sensible, theoretical limit.

In short don't bother, unless you do LOTS of other stuff too.

Worth getting the standard injectors cleaned though, someone on here offers the service.

Mad Professor (Mark). Excellent service.

Surely bigger injectors will do nothing on standard management. The ecu will still be telling it to put the same amount of fuel in so it will be no different too how it was?

The ECU tells the injectors how long to stay open for. Bigger injectors will put in more fuel in the time.

I've a set of Weber Marelli Pico 440cc/min injectors in my Mi16 (controlled by Emerald management).

440cc/min

I'm surprised you can control it with an Emerald at idle!!!

AWEFUL injectors, no atomisation at all, pencil jet spray pattern. I bet you could have 20-30% better fuel economy with better injectors. Siemens Deka 480cc injectors as fitted to the renault megane 225 are fantastic and are same fitment as pico

I've had no issues at all in the four years I've had them. Idles well, revs well and fuel consumption is perfectly acceptable.

Maybe you had a bad set.

Shirley without more air flowing in, that's just going to make it run more rich?

Exactly, and that was Ryan's point, so pointless.

Who's Shirley though?

LOL - I got a bit carried away. What I meant to say was that given (as someone said up there^^^) a fixed amount of air and an unmodified ecu all that will happen is that the car will run rich and the performance will be *worse* as a result.
