There are a couple of white cars that kick about, I've not seen one running odd wheels though.

It's Rotherham, someone probably nicked the rear pair of speedlines whilst he was stood at traffic lights.

Or swapped the 'pepperpots' on the front for Speedlines.....at the lights.

The only reason it takes the Virgin boys so long at pitstops is because the local lads are blowing over the old wheels to sell on ebay.

ive done this before just because my front tyres were bald and i couldnt afford new ones so i put 2 spare 1.6 wheels i had with good tyres on the front

I done this a while back due to a bald tyre, there needing to be matching tyre size on a axle, and the fact 14" smr wheels don't fit over 1.9 brakes :P

14" smr wheels don't fit over 1.9 brakes :)

Really?

Do speedlines?

Best I check the pepperpots I have in my garden, pretty pointless them being there if they won't fit the car!

14" 1.6 wheels did not fit over the brakes on my phase I 1.9. Well they did, but they rubbed badly.

I thought it was an MOT fail to have a smaller tyre on the rear...or is that the width?

Yes, both the front and rear have to be the same size, ie 15 inch for example.

But the two tires at the front have to be the same, ie 50, even if the rear two are slightly different in height of tire. Mine passed with the two front being different to the rears.

Seems strange, are you certain that's the case? As there's a few cars that were released with 18" rears and 17" fronts for example...

No, you can have different size wheels front and back. you just have to have matching wheels/tyres per axle.

I've also done this to try and eliminate a vibration problem ie an unbalanced wheel, and due to low rubber.

I was talking about pepperpots made by speedline as opposed to pepperpots made by smr!

Just what I was going to say, half of the new mercs have bigger tyres on the back than on the front. I assume they have to match across the axle.

I've seem lots of fords on 205 wheels actually, a guy near me used to have a capri on 1.9s, and in Brighton I've seen a fiesta on 1.6 wheels.

Both looked quite good I thought.

Obviously would look better with the rest of the car swapped for 205 bit tho!

:(

yes they have to match across the axle

merc smart cars also have diffrent size tyres front and rear and no spare which is great for me as i sell/install a lot of my puncture safe on these.
