Window Mechanism.

HI all.

 

my 205 1.6 GTI has a problem with the windows, if you put your hand on the out side of the windows and push down they open.

would i need to change the hole mechanism inside or would some thing elce fix it?

I had this problem and changed the whole mechanism, i think it is more than the spring that goes.

so you have to change the hole mechanism in the window then? it it a very easy job?

I have done it twice at least so it can't be that hard.

It is bit of a pain but it is just a question of lining up all the mounting nuts in the door holes.

Also you have make sure the top runner is conected to the glass.

Just make sure the 'new' mechanism is in good condition, I removed the old one, fitted the new one to find it was just as bad - bummer!

local scrap yard has lots or 205s and 309s from 1.1s to gtis so manged to find 2 window mecanisums for my GTi.

 

fitting was ok just needed extra pair of hands some times . all windows ok now!

which scrap yard was that? somerton by any chance?

yea thats the one, some times they do over charge tho for parts. but he was in good mood today
