Be3 Gearbox Query

Hello everyone.Ive got a gentry that the auto box has just lost drive and want to convert it to manual with a proper 130bhp engine.Ive bought a gearbox which is a BE3 one.What i need to know is,does every 205gti with a be3 gearbox have the reverse detent cable coming off the gearlever as this gearbox has a hole in it where the detent goes in. Are there two types of gear lever assemblies,one with a cable and one without?Thanks Rob.

BE3 gearbox doesnt have a cable on it, and reverse is towards the driver and back (below 5th)

BE1 gearbox uses the cable for reverse and has a lift up collar on the gearshift, reverse is next to 1st.

he hole will be for a breather plug, if you look at a BE1 you'll notice its in a different position.
