Oil Pump Spring

just putting the engine back together and wondering where the oil pump spring goes. does it go between the block and the pump or does it go between the pump and the bit that bolts on to the pump, sorry for being so vague but don't no how else to describe it, thanks,

Between the pump body and the pickup - obvious enough when you take the pump apart.

is it the hole at the top or bottom of the pick up which the spring goes in?? shown in first pic

As you started this Ed, and as someone else with a similar query will find your topic in a search, why don't you include/add the answer to help others?

 

I'm saying this as it was a recent complaint that people with problems didn't finish their thread/topics and include the solution.
