Oil T Piece Problem.

Recommended Posts

while i had the inlet off today i thought i would tackle the oil leak i have dow the front of the block.

first i thought it was the oil/water cooler plate but on closer inspection i found oil leaking from one of the three joins on the t piece i brought to run oil both oil pressure sensors.

i cant pinpoint what one it is but i think i can rule out the one that connects the tpiece to the block as this has a metal washer with a rubber centre (came with it from demon tweeks)

i will get a small one for the mushroom sensor but the problem lies with the other sensor in the pic on the end. this is as far as it screws into the t piece? i was using two copper washers in the gap but i am guessing this is/was no good. the gap looks to be about 4mm.

how the heel do i get round this? my first thought was to cut few threads off the sensor but i'm not sure if this will affect its function? other than that i guess a 5mm copper washer if there is such a thing?

what a pain in the arse having to go over these things again and have the engine in bits again grrr :)

PTFE tape on the threads? If it's just a weep then that'll probably be enough to sort it.

if this is what is causing the leak then its a good old weep :)

i get a small puddle (15cm across ish) under the car overnight

i just ahd an idea thought, i rubber washer actually down in the hole between the end of the sensor and the end of the t piece + some ptfe and two copper washers. if that dont fix it..........

just some PTFE tape should suffice, you can see from the gap that they aren't intended to use washers.

I used a few copper washers didn't cause a leak, but I used a different design as it was smaller.

PTFE/ One Wrap will do the trick. One Wrap is thicker.

Or even some Loctite55 if any of your mates are pipefitters/plumbers?
