Turbo Diesel Pump

Recommended Posts

johno_78

I want to change the Lucas fuel pump on my turbo diesel to a Bosch unit so i can use the veg oil i have sat in my garden.

Which donor vehicles have a suitable pump i can use for this conversion? I know of the 306 and Rover 218, but my local scrapyard doesn't have any in at the moment. There are several 405 TD's, however i believe that this is the XU9D instead of the XU7D, so am unsure as to compatability.

Early 306's had them, 406's, xantia etc just a case of looking.

I'd keep it quiet about the veg oil, illegal and the tax man will bum rape you if you get caught. Give us some :D

Make sure you get the injectors, lines and pump mounting plate for the bosch pump or it won't work!

From not having any bosch pumps in my local scrap yard, I now have a choice between a few.

There are now 2 306DT's with part numbers: NR0 460 494 342, VE 445-2 & VE 445-3

There are also a couple of 405's i could use.

They all appear to be in a similar condition, so I am looking for recommendations as to which would be the best one to pick.
