Begs the question why didn't you use a torque wrench?

You could carry on, but assume this isn't on a 8v engine?

Is there not enough left poking out to get hold of it and get the remainder out?

Torque wrench or not it only needs nipping up! You've got to be going some to snap it! :D

nothing poking out i think it's drill and tap time,

you know that bit where you just think 1 more little tweek and that will do it thats what happened just wanted to make sure they was all done up well they definatly was :D but do you think it will be ok to get it up asnd running then sort it as have limited time for the space the car is on whilst doing conversion

As said the cap caps only need nipping up 30lb/ft or something low like that!

They are 12.9grade cap heads I think standard so if one has snapped easily (unless your a monster :) )for the money I would be inclined to replace all the bolts just to be on the safe side

You may struggle to tap it out as they are quite hard. if its sheared off level the centre punch it, drill it and try an easy out :)

I'm suprised it didn't just strip the thread out of the head.

I've had a few of these snap over the years and its not due to overtightening, the bolts are extremely small diameter at the end of the threaded part and this is where they snap. I got annoyed with my mates car once when it kept snapping threads so we ground the threaded part off all the bolts then drilled and tapped the remains and screwed some threaded bar in.

My alloy Mi16 did exactly the same thing when using a torque wrench. Do what I do when faced with a Peugeot-Problem -remove everything Peugeot which is causing the issue and come up with your own solution! (The above sounds like something I might do)

These bolts snap as they are a shouldered bolt, so as soon as the shoulder bottoms on the head top surface, they will easily shear off. I've also done 1 or 2 in the past when I was trying to torque them to book value. I just nip them now.
