Recommended Posts

timb1046

my fuel pump has been hard wired in, however with any loss of electricity to it no matter how momentary the switch will knock out and the pump will stop. will this go through an MOT? i alos have a big red electricity cut out switch on the dash.

Regards

Tim

Does it stop running when you turn the ignition back to stop the engine on the accessory position?

Unless you have a seriously strict tester who leave the car sat with the ignition on & notices the pump is still running I doubt it.

I know of at least one car that went through several MOT's like this before I noticed it & fit a working tachymetric relay.

They always wondered why the heated rear window never worked before.

Kate asked me the same question last night!

As above, as long as it is switched somewhere it'll be fine unless the tester's particularly tight, plenty of competition cars run fuel pump's on a seperate switch.

once turned on you can take the key out and the engine will continue to run, however, as soon as the red cut out 'key' is removed it all stops and the fuel pump will not start again until the switch is re-pressed.
