How Do You Know A 1.6 From A 1.9 Be3 Gearbox

I've recently fitted another BE3 into my 1.9 205 after the last one forced broken diff cogs out the side wall of the bell housing.The replacement gearbox was sold to me as a BE3 and at the time i did'nt know there was any difference between the gear ratios in the 1.6 and the 1.9 BE3 , i had'nt had the car long before the old box blew up and it is my first 205 GTI but the new gearbox seems to get me to 5th gear quicker than the last one did , is there a number or something on the gearbox that will tell me what one it is. cheers

Whip off the diff housing cover at the back.

 

On the crownwheel, it will have no of teeth printed, and assuming it's never been apart and modded, that'll tell you what box you have.
