Depends on your budget, I always use the 4-2-1's which I supply as the labour is less and you don;t have to muck around as much,

Never heard of P.D.M but before buying no matter whats said make sure the welding is good and the company/person is only on ebay etc for a few months

yes im in two minds have heard 4-2-1 is good but has a limited life being steel also have heard its good for a couple of b h p more however may be a stainless could be best bet i know cost is greater but surely it would last longer

I have a supplier who used to make 205 16v 4-2-1 stainless manifolds for a company in germany. I can ask on wednesday if they are able to make any as the customer has not had any made in years, and the jig is just sitting there..

The other option is get a mild steel one & have it thermally coated. It's lighter than s/steel, corrosion resistant, greatly reduces heat soak through the firewall & floor & worth bhp as well.

I read that the ceramic coatings effectively change the tuned lengths of the manifold???

Since the coating keeps the exhaust gases hotter & increases the gas velocity, (so better scavanging) it probably has the effect of changing the 'tune' of the manifold.

Hence why most Magnex's are shagged.

I sell quite a few stainless manifolds and no customers have come back with cracked ones.....i've never sold magnex though.. they can certainly crack if people heat wrap them as this restricts the expansion of the metal as it heats..

I went to speak to my custom exhaust manufacturer and they will build a stainless version if I want though we need to do a bit of development work. The design they have is a 4-1 and is for the 205 with 16v engine. I think the design is better so it wont fall apart all the time like the maniflow.

I'm going to get one made and fitted to my race car so will see what the fitment is like. Might look at sorting a full exhaust system as well to go with it.

I've had one of Miles 4-2-1 manifolds now for 6 years or 40,000 miles - which ever way you want to put it.

Seems ok to me.

Quick question for you chaps, bought an alloy MI with a 4-2-1 conversion manifold already on it so not sure of make, wondering where I can get another flange fitting for the otherside of the manifold. Also which donut do they tend to use, found one similar at motor factors but its a smidge too big diameter and not as thick as the old one.

Appreciate they may all be different but if you could give me an idea so I've got somewhere else to start from!

Cheers

I use to have a 4-2-1 system on my 205 Mi. It started to rust and blow badly. It then knocked the bulkhead even with fresh uprated mounts.

Personally, i would go cheaper routes and spend the time to make them work rather than spend 3-400 which isn't fit and forget.
