Alarm/immobiliser

Recommended Posts

Silky

I possibly need to install some sort of alarm or immobiliser to get my car insured with its modifications.

If this is the case, what is the easiest/simplest to install ?

The car spends its life in the garage when not in use so I am not overly fussed about some amazing alarm that is worth as much as the car itself.

Just want the simplest install possible

Silky,

Give Norton Insurance a call and get it on a classic policy. It's very cheap.

My 309 is with them and with all the mods declared it still didn't need an alarm or immobiliser.

who these people? www.norton-ib.co.uk

The cage and everything is declared on mine and it's only ever been £180 at it's highest, my 205 was about the same price too.

Don't forget to limit the mileage too and ask specifically for the classic policy.

I'm with them on a classic policy - they said on line quote wouldn't work as not all there underwriters view 205 as a classic. Well worth giving them a call. Mine's £150 for a standard 1.9 - but i am well over twice the age of the car!

The last classic policy I had was actually with Firebond, who got bought out a couple of years back.

Was paying under £200 for a 309 Mi16 with all mods declared. Only thing I had to do was as said above, fit an immobiliser. Picked a local guy who did a nice Toad unit for £90 fitted.
