Throttle Body Trumpets

Recommended Posts

I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to find a set of trumpets for my GSXR bodies, does anyone know of manufacturers / suppliers who either have a large and varied stock or are able to spin / mould / machine custom bodies?

They need to be 50mm / 2" ID and taper to a maximum OD of 80mm, the length isn't crucial as I'll probably be using some straight connectors to get some variance in tract length, but 90mm is the maximum.

Danke!

Do you reckon you'd be able to do some custom ones, or would it be ridiculously expensive?

Yes one of tooling will be expensive, however ..

..If you want to move this topic to 'wanted' we can discuss it a bit more ... if you get my drift

Not thought about making your own though Cam?! you can flare out alloy pipe on a power press with a former.

I think M3evo might of done this for his trumpets.

I have thought about it, but I don't really have access to tools like that at the moment. I've been thinking about making GRP / carbon ones because it would be nice and easy to make the moulds, but figuring out how to mount them could be a pain.

I've found some ITG ones that may work, they're 48mm ID but I reckon I can get them swaged up to 50mm easily enough.

It depends how expensive your tooling is going to be, if it's going to be triple figures then I don't think I could justify it.

As far as I know, the ones Colin makes cover the second injector holes, are fixed on with a grub screw, and have fixings for the airbox backplate. Seem like they will save you some mither.

Get in line though, he's doing mine first!!!!! :)
