Driveshaft Issue

i fitted my shafts in my mi16/gti6 box today and the n/s (short shaft) doesn't seem to all the way in the gear box. there seems to be about 10mm gap is this normal?

as i tryed to push it in further but it didnt want to go and weren't going to force it just incase i did some damage

it fits in the hub fine so i assume its ok but thought id ask

I have a shaft alone for the inner CV if you need one.

The GTI-6 diff is different to the original Be3 one (& so are the later 405 & 306 etc diffs).

 

You either need to swap diffs or driveshaft ends so the shafts fit into the diff properly.

Graham is right.

I knew the reason behind your problem, but as a test I did a very quick search.

I typed in "+driveshaft +short" and got an answer straight away, easy.
