Crank Sensor, Where?

Hi, could someone please point me in the correct place for the crank sensor plug to go? It's a 1991 1600 GTI and I can't see where its supposed to go

 

Also is it possible to buy new engine looms or even reman ones as mine is pretty tired and I've had to repair it in many places

Have you tried a search regarding the crank sensor plug? As this is a very commonly asked question, and if you had a look you would find that it doesn't plug in anywhere, and the reason it is there.

Its an 8 valve so no crank sensor on most bar the late Cat+Motronic equipped engines, all runs from the Distributor on the Jetronic systems

 

in which case check that the cable from the distributor to the ignition amplifier is good, and that you have 12v to the coil.
