Weird Door Lock

Hi chaps, as per title when I turn the key in the barrel sometimes it will lock or unlock and then other times it wont!!!

 

Its getting on my tits as sometimes il try to leave my car in a carpark and I cant lock the bloody thing and other times it will lock, but then when I come back to the car it wont unlock and I end up having to open the boot and pulling the door pin.

Mine does this on the passenger door, a squirt of WD tends to fix it for a few months at a time

I've had this happen before, it was the plastic crank on the back of the lock barrel had cracked causing it to flex when you tried to lock it

Davie what did you squirt WD on? my lock isnt stiff it always feels the same just makes its own mind up wether its going to lock/unlock or not.

 

Andy I can see what you mean about the plastic thingy cracking & being able to flex il check this thanks.

I think thats what broke mine, the clutch in the actuator had jammed (as usual) so it took a lot of force to open/close the lock which was the cause of the damage

Take of the interior door panel and have a look to see if the plastic hook has come off or not engaged properly... this is what happened to mine when some little scrote decided to ram a screwdriver down the side of it to get in..
