Mi16 Ecu

Recommended Posts

series111

Hi all i am new to this site and for the past year i have rebuilt and fitted a mi16 engine into my 205 gti i have just put it on the road and i have a severe flat spot so i checked the timing and this was spot on so i thought right i will take it to get setup and now having got the car back after changing tps sensor, airflow meter and having the injectors cleaned it is still no better. the guy at the garage has throughly checked the system and he says the injectors are not going open loop which is controlled by the ecu causing the flat spot so he has diagnosed this as the fault. my ecu no is 0 261 200 161 and the loom has a lambda sensor and knock sensor is this the correct ecu for the loom??? if so has anybody else had this fault and also does anybody have a spare one for sale thanks in advance mark.....

If you have the 1.9 mi16 then it is the correct ecu, listed for 309 and 405 mi16 with cat from 90-94

What does he mean by going open loop?

apparently the injectors run at 3 ohms under normal driving conditions and when the engine needs more fuel for accelerating etc this is increased to 7 ohms this done by the ecu going open loop this results in giving more fuel to the engine therefore eliminating any flat spots.....

I'd be looking at the throttle switch and AFM before the ECU.

Looks like i may have solved it i will start from the begin i decided to change the crank sensor as i have brand new . i changed it and then the car would not start so i thought it was faulty as i have never tried but on closer inspection after moving wires the car started it turned out the plug was not very secure causing a intermitent signal it is now dare i say it running spot on without a flat spot.......
