Windscreen Replacement

Recommended Posts

Silky

My current windscreen has a nasty chip and crack in it and it needs replacing.

I could look around for one and then have someone fit it to save costs, but I'm not that fussed and would rather a brand new screen fitted professionally.

Couple of quick questions, I see a few people talking about the colour of glass, either bronze or green.

Mine is a P2 GTI, so would that be a bronze tinted glass ?

Also, I could have one with a blue screen across the top of it, seeing as I have a cage with sunvisors not being able to be fitted should I go this route ?

Only thing is that its blue and I have a red GTI

Its very to fit a 205 winscreen DIY, you could buy one of those red or black sun strips if your that botherd.

Maybe, but I just don't want to do the job and break anything, or have the old screen broken into pieces. Gonna go through my insurance as it's pretty cheap.

Yeah I was tempted by the PTS sunstrip if I needed anything

bronze is the standard gti tint, not sure hat the green was fitted to.

best to get bronze to match the other windows as they are the same tint, unless you have poly windahs, which could have a bronze tint too.

You get a standard bronze tint screen a clear screen or the one with a blue tint across the top. The one with the blue tint across the top should be bronze tinted throughout too. I couldn't get a standard bronze one here so got the bronze with blue top. Looks fine on a dark coloured car but I doubt it will help your eyes much with the sun without the sunvisors. They cost abit more too.

yeah defo with the bronze tint would look much better. and like davew said the roll out sunstrips are very easy to fit if your a bit unsure if you go to a shop that designs stickers and stuff they will custom make you one for about £15 or poss even fit it for you and it does look very proffesional and you can choose how far down your screen you want it to go. that reminds me must get one made for mine lol.
