Recommended Posts

Has anybody got a fitting guide to these, managed to source some from an 8v Gti. Can I swap my speedo head so i keep my original mileage?

Thanks

Jim

Its easy, remove the dash cover etc & remove your original clocks, afaik all the plugs fit straight across.

You need to remove the oil level sensor bit from the back of the BX clocks first, then it'll work just the same as the 205 ones.

One thing though, fitting your 205 speedo will be a different colour when you have your lights on unless you remove the front piece & swap it across.

If you do this make sure you mark the speedo needle rest position to keep yur speedo as accurate as possible.

They fit straight in no need to do anything.

If they're from a late 8v GTi then I'm not sure that the rev counter will work, as the late models used MP3.1 which supplies the feed to the rev counter from the ECU, and not from the coil as per 205 GTi/Mi16's and earlier BX GTi's

Easiest way to tell was whether the engine had a distributor and AFM (earlier models) or a wasted-spark coilpack and no AFM (later models). From memory, the changeover happened on an early H-reg.

If the BX had the oil level sensor (all did iirc) then you have to remove it or your oil pressure guage won't work.

How do you wire up the oil level sender thingy on the BX clocks? I know it's something about the back of the block. Do i need a sensor to put in and then wire it to the speedo?

Thanks.
