Golf Gt Tdi To Replace The Scooby

Recommended Posts

Bigtimmy

Well after much umming and ahhing I decided to bite the bullet at the weekend and buy a car to replace the Scooby with.

The only reason I have the Scoob is to do distance with, and although very comfortable it does't like going too far without having a drink which these days is becoming increasingly expensive.

So a couple of months back I decided to start researching a new car, well new to me, and decided that a Golf GT TDI wass the way to go.

As it happens after looking at a few over the months I found a local one which although it has covered 130k it has a service book full of stamps from a couple of dealers and a raft of supporting paperwork.

It is a 130 Highline which has been remapped to 150, with paperwork and it goes like stink!

Sunshine roof, AC, Cruise Control, yadda yadda yadda, sat on a set of Eibach springs and TSW drug dealer wheels which need some new tyres.

As bought, washed and ready for some detailing.

It needs tyres as mentioned and is due a cambelt and waterpump. Tyres are easy, as I'm selling the Scoob I'm returning it to standard and the 18's that are on that will fit nicely thank you very much, the guy has put 12 months tax on it for me and so all I need to spend on is the cambelt and waterpump.

How much did I pay? I reckon it was a good deal, answers on a postcard please!

I replaced my petrol guzzeler 6 months back with a mk4 golf gt tdi, all the extras like you, heated seats, leather, cruise control, tuned up, alloys, lowered etc etc, 7months tax and test and just 70k miles, best thing I ever did, on a gd cruise you can get 60mpg out of it no probs, and even round country lanes 50-55mpg.

would guess 3-3.5k

And the winner is.....Muddatrucker!

Well done, bang on the money, although with all things in life there was a deal to be done and I'm looking after his boat for a season, which doen't really cost me anything so actual money changing hands was about £800 so if it goes pop tomorrow I'm just not going to be too worried!

Good times!

Bargin mate! You've done well there!

Could put another 50k miles on it and it still wont be worth much less! Only thing i've found with mine is rear wishbone bushes wearing, and some monkey didnt fit the gasket for the EGR pipe properly!

Yeah there are a few issues that I found by looking on the UK Mkiv forum, and the road noise with bigger wheels makes it sound like a bearing is on the way out, but it isn't.

I'll probably rebush the whole car with polybushes as they are renowned for wearing bushes out.

Still it's a small price to pay!!
