Rev Counter Help, Gti6 Engine In 205 Gti

Recommended Posts

I bought a converted loom off Spiky, with a built in rev gauge loom.

I've swapped the loom and clocks for known working items, the rev gauge worked before the engine conversion. I've had the dash out but pretty sure I reconnected everything.

The second set of clocks has had the extra wire soldered in place. And still no joy.

I've taken the clocks out and here's a few pics...

This one shows my clocks (1st) and my mates clocks (2nd). 1st has three pins sticking out back and 2nd four pins.

Anything important?

Stu

The last pic is an earth point i think used to connect to a manual choke that puts a light on the dash when its out, obviously not used on the injected cars.

If its any consolation i had the exact same trouble trying to get my tacho working with my Megajolt setup; after a bit of research i found some similar posts with one in particular showing how to remove the 'conditioning' filters present on the rev counter that 'smooth' out the signal from the coil on the stock setup. Since i removed mine it worked, if got all the info somewhere, i'll dig it out when im home next with some pics fella.

If you could please mate, I'm really stuck to why it's not working.

I've used my mate's working setup (clocks, loom and ecu!?) and it's still not working.

All plugs are in the right place (lol), i've checked the wire 112 goes to the correct wire on the multiplug. Earth is bolted to head for loom.

AAAARRRRRRGGGGHH!!!!

i had trouble getting my tacho working on my gti6 megasquirt conversion. in the end i made up a convertor with a couple of quids worth of resistors from maplin and all is fine apart from when i turn the car over. as soon as it fire its fine.

that is running two triggers from each coil on a wasted spark system

here it is scroll down a little

thread clicky

Nice one cheers geezer, will have another bash tomorrow to see if any tinkering does it.

If not i'll have to fabricate the above :)

Edit:

There must be something stopping it in the car, Spiky's loom is A-ok. Somewhere between the clocks and brown multiplug must be fudging it up.

I took the connectors out of the multiplug and plugged them together and still nothing.

you got an earth from the plug on the back of the tacho? when i made the above thingy it still didnt work, turns out there was no earth to the tacho.

i think 112 is the signal then you have a 12v feed and an earth which on mine was wound round the twin green 112 wires and must have been disconnected when i done the engine swap. i would check that first. should have earth,12v feed and a signal for it to work

I want to know if these are the correct way round.

Going from right to left on the pins: 32b, 323, 112 and 112d doesn't have a pin in clock side of things.

Thanks

P.s

I haven't ignored the post above, just haven't had time to check with multimeter.

Spiky

simple fix dude

run a new wire from the loom under the dash (wire 112) to the back of the clock,

then run a earth and a switched live,

thats all you need

you MAY be missing a earth or live, easy to check that too

sorry i nopt replied eariler, been on hols

i guess somewhere you've knocked a live from the loom while the dash was out.

all sorted then :D
