Mi16 Sump And Spacer Gasket

hi i have a 1.9 mi16 and my sump appears to be leaking a bit but there is no gasket on either surfaces of the spacer just been sealed with instant gasket by previous owner. is this the correct means of sealing or is there a gasket for it and mines has just been bodged??

General rule of thumb, alloy sump = sealant, steel sump = gasket.

 

If you re seal it get some decent RTV silicone, and make sure all surfaces are clean and degreased.
