a friend of mine gave me a fse power boost valve off a 106 gti that hasnt really been used, would it fit onto a 1.6 205 gti? and are they actually worth the bother?

The valve itself will almost certinally be suitable, the bracketry mat be wrong though.

A lot of people dont like FSE valves due to experianced running proplems to cars with them fitted, and they tend to 'adjust' themselfs.

Thing is you absolutely must have a gauge, they dont come with so the negative aspects of owning one become apparent. With a gauge however and a tweak every now and then they are ok. :)

Also depends on the engine spec if it will be of any use to you. On a standard car no point really.

I always take them off my own cars,my 205 had one when i bought it and if it was left on idle for a while it would start to smoke due to bore wash,it may have been just be down to incorrect set up when it was fitted.I took it off, problem solved.imo i dont really think they make a great deal of improvement anyway

No.

The most pointless mod, unless your car happens to be lean by the same amount at all speeds and loads, which it won't be! Even then they don't hold their setting very well and are a regular source of problems on competition engines that have them as a regular fuel reg. Use the OE capsule regs, the best, most reliable bet.

I think I mistook this for a b*ggered headgasket on my 1.9 8v D'OH!
