Need More Power Gti6 205

Recommended Posts

Guest pugley gti6

Hi guys ! Right i have a black 205 gti6 emerald ecu, alpha weber throttle bodies , oil cooler , 6 speed box,and cams . 186 brake . Have been bitten by santa pod bug and love it. First time i have ever done anything like this and managed a 14.2 . struggled to get power down in first and second but as soon as i hit third it goes like stink !!!. problem is have a mate with a g60 golf. Beat him every time but only just 14.4 !!!. What route should i take for more power ?? what else can i do ?? what do you guys recommend ? Oh and have just ordered some yoko spes 2 for a little more grip . thanks matt

on standard internals these lumps seem to live with over 300hp with a bit of forced induction, try a search see what you find... i think dp? do turbo kits for GTi-6 engines.

Possibly work a bit more on getting the power down that you already have, LSD?

Diff? to get the power down, 186 bhp sounds low for those mods?

Soft slicks will see better launches too.

do trackdays instead, or buy something RWD.

Lynx engineering kit FTW. Check on here for supercharged gti6 lumps and on 306gti6.com, whole kit is around 4k i think, for 250-260bhp.

Exactly what I was going to say, fit an LSD and go quicker with the power you have before going for more.

True, you're never going to get quick drag times in a FWD car. If you think driving in a straight line is fun, you wait 'til you try some corners!

Slicks, Diff, start swapping bits out for lightweight replacements. Nitrous? (GOT YOUR BACK BRO! Pschhhhhhhh! :) )

My best mate is into all this, runs high 12's in his charged Civic. Dont see the fascination myself :) I would be spending my cash monies getting it round a track quickly and looking sexy, but each to their own.

Better traction, and less weight - both of those will help your quarter mile times without any increase in power, as will improving launching technique if this is the first time you've tried it.

Otherwise, cams seem the obvious choice for increasing power given the rest of the spec of the engine, but that will mean a (costly) remap to suit.

WWW.CGCARSLEICESTER.CO.UK aka Carl Grimsley also does the same supercharger kit, but and a big but there has been a small number of charged gti6's that have had the chargers seized up.

i havnt looked into who or why - 4th post down http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.ph...3342&page=2
