Having A Bit Of Bother...

Recommended Posts

Can you advise please?

When I bought the car I was told that the heater fan runs all the time, So I figured that it would be the control unit behind the dials. I bought another one and it made no odds. Then I noticed that the unit was not even plugged in, this di make a change, it stopped the fans dead but did not allow me to controll them at all.

I then moved on to the resistor unit that is attached to the fan body itself, I seapped this with three different units and no life or change at all.

I am just not sure what to do to get them to work again! My car has AC and I want to get it all working as it should be!

Thanks.

How hard is it to whip a fan out of a 205? I have never tried before, is it dash out?

The fan is in the footwell by the passengers right foot. Not a bad job to get it out.

Is there a method of testing it to diagnose my issues?

Yes :) , use some wire and crimp terminals , and connect it directly onto the battery (fingers off !) .. simple as this .. obviously , if it spins it's fine and the problem is somewhere within the wiring system or controls/potentiometer/resistor ...

Ok, so took heater to bits and all of the trim off beside it to reveal the wiring. Heater spins fine but has been played with at some point so I will replace anyway!

I found this

any ideas on what it does? It was bolted to my heater box at the bottom and never seen one before?

6461 95 or 6451 75 Thermostat . . . . .

Doubt this would affect the fans working?

All sorted now, I went to the scrappers and found a nice phase 1.5 base model, took the heater motor and the resistor and it works like a dream!

Now I just gave to repair the dash as when I took it to bits I found a lot was broken and had been repaired very badly (see wanted forum if you think you can help)

thanks
