Recommended Posts

I have had my 1.9 for a week and now its sitting in the garage in bits, there was a bit of the mayo in the oil cap and other areas so i dicided to do a rebuild.

Is there anything I should be aware of as im replacing parts

The List

Head set including valve steam seals

Decoke

Lap the valves

New shims

Head Skim

Linners honed

Linner Seals

Piston rings

Big end Bearings

Sump gasket

Crankshaft seals

Fly wheels resurface

new clutch

Silicon water and breather pipes

New engine mounts

If you think i have missed anything any advice would be great as this is the first time i have owned a pug so some things are alien to me ie: WET LINNERS.

Cheers Dave

A bit late now - but they all seem to have a bit of mayo in the breathers. :)

Did you do a compression test before you stripped it to check the state of the gasket/rings etc?

There was white stuff every where it had a head gasket done before but it looks as there was damage to three out of the four linner seals, also there was alot of breathing.

Dizzy vac advance is worth checking as these usually go. Suck on the pipe from the bottom of the throttle body to the dizzy and if you can suck, then it is knackered!
