Whats Your Opinion

looking for your opinions on what to do next...

my mi16 is burning oil and breathing loads. i have carried out a leak test and 3 out of 4 cylinders were blowing a fair bit. the car failed its MOT emissions test, the HC's were near on 6k

i suspect the piston rings arent any good anymore (seeing as everything else wasnt anygood in the engine).

i took the engine apart and removed the pistons and liners.

these are my pistons and liners from my mi16. there are wear marks on every liner but the ridge is minimal. the pistons have wear marks on the pistons also. both can be seen in the pictures.

i did get an opinion earlier this week and im not going against it but i didnt show them any pictures. here are some pictures and would like to know what you think the extent of the damage is.

im hoping that i can hone these liners and get some piston rings to match.

do you think the pistons are good enough?

also this is the head picture. what do you make of the colours etc?

i had a look in the ports and there is no oil in ther indicating the valve stem seals are leaking so im deffinately looking towards rings/liners.

opinions please :)

Tom Fenton

It has been leaking water into one of the cylinders and steam cleaning it all, as the valves look pristine from the pictures on one cyl.
