Dim Dip Can I Get Rid?

Recommended Posts

HERMAN

I am just rewiring my engine bay and I am thinking about removing the dim dip circuit. Does any body know if it is still a mot requrement for a 1988 car? I know that they only fitted it for a few years.

Thanks

Neil

Bin it if you want ;)

Never been checked on any of my cars for MOT,my 309 has it working now,my old one didn't,passed MOT fine ;)

Also had a Cav Sri130 years ago,the dim dip relay stuck on that, leaving headlights on all the time untill battery disconneted :)

Pulled relay out and that passed MOT after that too B)

It is technicly an mot failure. But depending on how leaneant your tester is. Or how well you know him lol !

Let's face it though its not danger orientated is it so shouldn't be a problem for any decent tester.

Unless theym a right grumpy f**ker !

Pretty sure its not a MOT fail :)

I'll find out tomoz from my tester for sure B)

Your sidelights still work,so do your headlights, not all cars were fitted with dim dip systems so how can the MOT tester know the car should have the dim dip system fitted and working???????

Been to my local freindly mot station this afternooon and I have been told that they no longer test dim dip.

So thats cool I can remove it.

I am removing it to simplyfi the engine bay wiring and tidy things up. I never drive with just side lights I always use head lights if needed and sides for parking.

Thanks

Neil

I can't see it being part of an MOT test as not all cars have/had dim-dip. I remember my Metro did but I'm sure my 205 doesn't.
