Gti6 Engine Question

Will my gti6 205 start without a map sensor that sits in the inlet manifold?? i was up at the garage today for 5 mins and tried to start the car but it just wound over!

I can't answer the question (although I would guess that the ECU may read no MAP as a fault and not start - although cars run fine without even needing MAP signals), but I can tell you that your MAP sensor and speedo drive will be posted Saturday morning.

 

Blame the volcano.

 

On another note - as everyone's going to ask you these questions - : do you have spark? Do you have fuel spraying from the injectors on crank? Without these it won't go anyway, so you need to confirm this and get back to us.

As dr sarty just said check for fuel spray and spark first because it should run without the map sensor just not as well, the ecu will just rely on signals from other sensors to advance and retard the ignition timing but won't run as well. It will just forget about the map until it receives signals .
